Starcraft II - General
You'll be able to play the single player campaign even while offline (not connected to Battle.net)
StarCraft II will have an achievements system and it's planned to be more robust than the one in World of Warcraft.
The UI looks similar to the one found in World of Warcraft and includes the popup notice when you've unlocked an achievement.
You'll be able to create private games to get your friends in and then publish them live to allow other players to join.
Offline single player will not unlock achievements due to potential hacking / exploiting of the system. You must complete the missions on Battle.net for achievements.
All game replays will be saved on Battle.net.
There will not be a leaver system implemented, but Blizzard plans to allow for "interesting" ways for map creators to compensate teams if someone leaves.

StarCraft II - Custom Maps
A genre category has been added that will allow filtering by custom genre: tower defense, hero arena, etc.
Maps will be downloadable from Battle.net
When you browse the map list, you'll see all maps currently being played. If you don't have the map you can download it instantly.
If your map becomes popular enough Blizzard may add matchmaking to it and / or achievements.

StarCraft II Marketplace
Similar to iTunes.
Easily browse maps; they can also be rated and commented on.
There will be both free and premium maps.
For a map to be considered premium its majority must be original content.
Premium maps will have a purchase price attached to them.
Map creators will be able to receive a portion of the revenue from selling their maps.
The price for premium maps will likely be static and set by Blizzard.
Battle.net
Will be integrated into Blizzard games news streams, community features, etc. from now on including World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, Diablo III and StarCraft II. No mention of older games being included.
Your Battle.net profile will display the achievements you've unlocked.
Cloud storage tech will allow you to store certain game files on the Battle.net service, meaning you can play on multiple machines without transferring files to a disk / USB first and then onto the second machine.

Competitive Arena for Everyone - Improved matchmaking that places you into matches against players of similar skill levels.
You're placed into a league based on your skill level and you advance through the leagues as your play improves.
You're rated based on 100 other players within the league.
Matchmaking options displayed currently include co-op and skirmish
You can form a party with friends or join the matchmaking queue solo
A chat system built like instant messaging rather than a single chat window
You can talk to friends in other games and on other realms within that game with this chat system

Battle.net Real ID
Think of this as Facebook or MySpace.
An achievement system that spans across games and characters.
Friend network stays intact for all future Battle.net games.
Separate from "character" friendships.
A mutual friendship that must be accepted by you and the person you've placed on the friends list.
The friends list in World of Warcraft will be updated to show game icons for your Real ID friends, showing what game they're currently playing.
